Comic project in progress post

Here is a nifty little progress set for the comic project I'm working on for my portfolio. I have the pencils, inks, and two stages of color. I'm putting together a completely separate site to host this project so when I finally finish this first page I will link it here for your enjoyment!

Finally! Workplace sketches return!

Sorry about the long absence, I've been working on my webcomic and comic book a lot and haven't been working on anything generic. I will post some stuff from those two projects when I have more content for them. Anyhoo, here are a couple recent things I've scratched onto paper during meetings(first one) or waiting around outside(second). BTW, the outside of our offices does NOT look like this. It was inspired by a bush.

Enjoy!

Another cool work project

Here is an illustration I got to do that was used in a sponsorship ad for a charity ball.

Enjoy!

Visit to the Folks

This weekend, my little family and I went up north to visit my relocated folks. So I took a moment or two to sketch a picture or their home.

Enjoy!

Cool project at work

That's right, I finally got a cool illustration project to do for my job! I won't go into detail, but I had to design two illustrations to be displayed at 18" x 24" for a tradeshow that would be used during a demonstration. I have included the finals, the mockups that I pitched and only one rough sketch, as I forgot to scan the first one at that stage. I have to tell you, I didn't get nearly the time I would have liked to complete these, as it was a hideous "Rush" job. I definitely had more planned for them.

Enjoy!

Daily Sketch Group

Here's a sketch I did for the ConceptArt.org Daily Sketch Group. The theme was for a creature: LARGE ARCTIC SPIDER HAS HEAVY, BLUBBERY, WALRUS-LIKE FLESH Enjoy!

Cool new Photoshop trick!!

I learned this neato trick for PS where you can make ordinary photos appear to be tiny models or minatures. Here are my first few attempts.

New Photoshop painting

This is a painting I did yesterday for a new agenda design at work. It was modeled off a photo from the web.

FINALLY!

Finally I have managed to drag my ass through scanning all my new sketchbook work! Without further ado, my up-to-date sketchbook post...

More Meeting Doodles

This first image is from last week, I was testing out my co-worker's turquise pencil in blue-then I inked it. He thought it looked like the lead singer for Midnight Oil, hence the lyrics.

This doodle was based on a 3CH instant "quick theme" which is a neat website that generates random topics for painting and drawing. The theme was: "A supersonic octopus reveals a police officer in the vestiges of a lost civilization". Here's a link:

I may try to paint this when I finish the cedar painting...

New Work! continued...

Ok, I finally got back to work on this piece, having added the sky...

...and finished the old timer. Things are moving right along!

I did some more work on the old timer, added some blush and water stains from the rain. I only need to color one glove and his boots at this point...

(I'm restarting this thread here, because the original will get archived soon)
I started painting tonight in earnest. The other night I blocked out my colors but tonight I started the detail work. Enjoy!

Playing School

Today my Wife, Son and I attended a family party, and I got a chance to spend some time with my niece and nephew. We played "school" and today's class was Art. We all took some time and made some pictures. Mine is below, he's an "Elephant Person" and my niece said he was a "Mad" guy. She made a really cool alien up right off the top of her head! She's very talented and I was totally impressed with her creature! She kept it or I would have posted it also.

Friday's meeting Doodle

Tried something a little more... toony today. Had a migraine also, so this meeting was a non-stop hit parade...
