New House Painting

I just finished a new house painting for a client. It's a pen and watercolor, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I have another one for them on deck now which I will post when it's ready, and I have bunches of charcoals from school this semester! I gotta get on the ball with my posting!

Giant Comic Page!

Well, after dragging my ass all summer on work, I finally completed this massive page for my webcomic. I'm really really a sad piece o' this season. I haven't accomplished ANYTHING. Until now. The week before classes start. Sad...

Missing Lost

Well, Lost ended on Sunday, and I'm definitely missing it. It was my favorite television show of all time, and if I may say, one of the best ever. It's a bit depressing now that it's gone and to help ease the loss, I went back and gathered up all the sketch portraits I did of my Island friends. They may not be good interpretations of the characters, and they are in whatever style I felt like at the time but I hope you enjoy them!

Two... more... Paintings!

Here's the new output, a Low Key, and another High Key. I didn't stretch myself too far coming up with another High Key subject. Don't judge! I have to do this all week long! LOL

How about a High Key painting this week? That's what I got for ya. Next week is Low Key and another larger High Key that will look very similar to this one, except pink. What can I say, I'm not a very strong compositioner(?).

Enjoy!

The Madness Continues!

Here's this week's painting. It's intended to be a casual "found" subject, so I found this on the floor of my closet! These are two old hats of mine and my flip flops.

Enjoy!

More... Paintings

Man oh man, I've been painting like a mad man. No, I mean literally, someone is going to look at the life I'm leading and say "Has he gone mad???" While clutching his bowler hat in fear and revulsion. Anyway, enough corn, let's get to the paintings! We've got a Cloth/Drapery study, and a large Birds Eye view.

Enjoy!

PS. Remember to check out my comic(top link in Interesting Stuff), I'm still updating it!

WOOT!!

Check it out everybody! I have someone Following my blog!(look to the right) I'm very excited and flattered. Thank you for signing up The Hurricane's Lament! I appreciate it.

This Week's Painting

Here it is! I did this one for my wife and the boys, it has their initials in it and I think we will put it in the baby's room when the semester's over. I think this is my favorite to this point.

Enjoy!

Paintings: The Squeakquel

Well, this week I wrapped up my "Candle Period" and my "Maroon Period" in one shot. The former because I ran out of candles to paint, and the latter because my wife wants her maroon drape back for the dining room. Anyhoo, presenting the Week 7 exercise, "Silver Shiny Object"(the one with the bottles) and Homework #2, representing weeks 5-7(Clear, Shiny Copper/Bronze, Shiny Silver).

Enjoy!

New Painting

Another painting for class, this one is supposed to feature copper or brass. I got lazy on the tea lights because the deadline was looming. It shows.

Enjoy!

New Painting and an Important Link...

Here's this week's new painting, I should have another tomorrow, unless something horrible occurs to prevent my timely submission. In OTHER news, I have finally started an official webcomic based on one of my story ideas. The comic is based on a young woman with Healing abilities who decides she'd rather not spend her life as a village wise woman and sets out to seek her fortune traveling her world and having many adventures with various friends and allies, etc. There is a villain and chasing and excitements and dinosaurs and high tech action and primitive tribes and weird little peoples and all sorts of stuff! It's just going to be coming out as slow as molasses so you will have to hang in for a while before any of the exciting stuff I just mentioned rolls around. But hang in there! I'll make it worth your while. Without further ado, The Link:
A Vagrant Life

and my new painting!

Edit: and the other new one!

More Paintin'!

Here are the next two assignments. Another limited palette but with the addition of a bright yellow and a full color palette excepting Black! I had to use the colors to get dark darks.

Enjoy!

I'M PAINTING!!!

Hi Everybody, I'm busy with my new class this semester, Still Life Painting, and I have two pieces under my belt. I have to say, I really enjoy working with Acrylics, I have very limited experience with painting in general and this was my first time working with this type of painting. I really feel like I'm clicking with it, they did a great job explaining the process(finally!) and it really relates well to the way I like to do things. Anyhoo, here's the first two:

First Assignment: Black and White - two simple objects.
Second Assignment: Limited Palette - Black, White, a Red and a Yellow.

A Special Xmas Giftie

This year, my sister and her husband bought a new house. My wife and I thought it would be a great idea to get some practice on my home portraits and put together one for her new house as a xmas/housewarming gift. I took it one step further and painted it in watercolor as well. I'm including both versions. I have been checking out a lot of watercolor illustrations and had been dying to try it out over my pens and this was a perfect opportunity! For whatever reason, the scanner really brightened up the colors when I scanned this. I had to desaturate it a bit to match the original. It is 14"x11" and I framed it up nice.

Enjoy!!

Character Designs

Hi All, I finished another interesting assignment where I needed to create 3 different character designs: Strong, Male, Hero, Young, Female, Assassin, and Old, Feeble, Man. I repurposed a couple of ideas I had in the past and here they are! Colored in Painter with different techniques, I'm still not sure what I'm doing with it, but I like it a lot.

Enjoy!

First school post of the semester

Here it is! The assignment was to create a line drawing of a character(s) and color it in Photoshop. So I used a couple of characters from a story idea I came up with recently. I hadn't really rendered them fully as of yet, so it was fun to put them down in a final form.

Enjoy!

Class this Semester

Hi Everybody! This semester I'm taking a digital painting class, so I will shortly have some interesting Photoshop and later Painter projects to upload. I'm very excited to get into the nitty gritty, so far we've been practicing basic Photoshop tricks, but this week we start painting. I have a small character study and a Olympic postage stamp idea coming down the pike. More to follow.

New Job

Everyday now, my oldest boy has been asking me to make him a dinosaur drawing while I'm at work. He picks one from his dinosaur TV show (Dinotrain, it's cute) and waits for the results when I get home. Here is today's: Stygimoloch.

Enjoy,

Chinese Landscape

I can't believe I forgot to post this. I was at a nice Chinese restaurant for my dept. Xmas party and I had received my leftovers and we were all sitting around like idiots waiting on the off-chance that our VP would grace us with a speech. I had started doodling with my gel pen on the top of my carryout container, inspired by the art hanging in the restaurant. Here it is! I would draw then smear the ink, over and over to create the brushed look. The top one is actual size. BTW, I was the first person to leave. Right after I finished this to be exact!

Enjoy!
